The Winnowing Fork

Winnowing: the process of separating the kernels of the threshed grain, such as wheat or barley, from the chaff with a current of air. The grain & it's mixture of straw & husks were thrown into the air. The kernels of wheat or barley would fall into a pile on the threshing floor; and the chaff, or refuse, would be blown away by the wind.

Chaff: the fine, dry material, such as husks (seed coverings) and other debris, that is separated from the seed in the process of threshing grain. In the Bible, chaff symbolizes worthless, evil or wicked persons or things that are about to be destroyed (Psalm 1:4;Matthew 3:12;Luke 3:17).

I believe the winnowing is what is happening to a lot of Christians. I am seeing a lot of changes going on. Changes in friendships and relationships. I am seeing a lot of people who called or call themselves Christians doing 'un' Christian things---really blatant 'un' Christian things. I am seeing the separation of wheat from chaff. The Lord is winnowing away those things that are harming us---whether they be people or objects---and guess what---that can bring relief sometimes---or it can hurt.

I myself am experiencing some changes. Changes in relationships. Changes in friendships. Changes in things I know I need to change about myself. The Lord is showing me so much....I want to change. I don't want to be who I used to be. I want to better who I am now. I want the winnowing---am I ready for it---well that's a completely different story----it's going to hurt---things are going to happen that I don't want to.....Because my thoughts are not His thoughts nor my ways His ways.....but my goal is for Him. My goal is to please Him. I need to stay faithful and strong.

I don't want to be the chaff the wind blows away during the winnowing, I want to be the part of the crop that's worth taking....the one that's going Home......

Hang in there all you who are hanging in til the end no matter what....all you who are not falling for the world....or for parts of the world without compromise.....even those things that our flesh might not find so bad---God makes the rules, He says what is good and bad.....stand strong on the Cornerstone....remember the price that was paid for you.....

Pray to be the the wheat and barley......As He is pruning and picking, shaping and molding, hang in there to be the crop He takes with Him....
