Our Constant

Forgive me for being away for a bit. I had quite the schedule & on top of it was not feeling all that great. But....I am back & busy.

I wanted to talk about Hebrews 13:8 : Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

What a relief, what a sigh we should be letting out, what a HALLELUJAH that should be called up to the heavens, what a powerful, powerful Scripture. Isn't it phenomenal that we don't have to worry about the Lord having a bad day? When we wake up in the morning; He will still be the same. The same mercy, grace, forgiveness, joy, healing, love---oh and judgement, discipline, rebuke.....It's just amazing to me that I never have to guess. The laws don't change, the constitution don't change, the Word don't change, He don't change......In all the chaos in the world that's happening today I find it such a joy and comfort that He is still the same............He is my Peace.

What also makes that Scripture ever so powerful is that what He is doing in the world & through us never changes either. What He did yesterday, He still does. What He does today, He did yesterday. What He does tomorrow.....well is what He did today and yesterday! God does not change, He is the GREAT I AM, He is the Alpha, the Omega, Yahweh, Elohim, El Shaddai...............

When He charged us in the Gospel of Mark : He said unto them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My Name they will drive out demons,  they will speak in new tongues, they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." (Mark 16:15-18)

Not hard to understand is it? I had to change my focus for a little bit because of things I see happening with Christians all around....the lax, laid back, oh I am saved I don't have to do anything.....um, yeah you are supposed to be running a race for a prize (1Cor 9: 24-27) in order to do that you must keep on doing the work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He commands it. He doesn't ask you to do it. He tells you to do it.

'Go into all the world.......' There is work to do. We are supposed to be out there on the streets, in our jobs, schools, buses, cars, trains, planes....witnessing---'Go into all the world....' That means off the couch, away from the TV, out of bed, stop doing the 'nothings' and start doing something to get the attention of this lost world and in it is the obedience to Jesus and a blessing for the obedience.

You are supposed to be doing something, remember what Jesus said "All those that say Lord, Lord will not be entering the Kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in Heaven".(Matthew 7:21)....We can't accept Jesus and then do as we please, you accept Jesus and you work on changing your life and following Him, turning away from sin and doing what He commands. It's not a laid back, lax belief or foundation. The Word is alive & breathing.....And it is used to encourage, lift up, rebuke and discipline.

The Lord is the Lord and He never changes, that means His Word still stands, His commands still stand too....what He tells us to do......still stands. It didn't drift away with time. Noone, not a biblical scholar, the wisest human on earth can say part of the Bible is for this time and part of this is for that time......all the Word is God-breathed. Jesus is the Word right? So that means the Word is the same, yesterday and today and forever, it does not change. Things don't change with time, God don't change with time. If it was done in 33 A.D. it is done in 2010 A.D. and will be done in 3040 A.D. (if the Rapture has not come.) There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. Keep thinking the Lord changes with the times.....

So the first command is to "Go into all the world and preach the good news". I do it. How many of you are up for doing it?

  1. Great post!! Thanks for sharing your heart thoughts.....I'm not sure about me going out into all the world..right now we are so busy raising 2 active daughters but the glorious thing is that we are serving RIGHT IN the church God has us in....and it is quite the journey! And the Lord has opened the door for me to begin a women's small group for moms of tweens/teens...something that was on my heart for years and now it looks like He is saying GO! It is exciting!! Please pray that moms hearts would be filled with His purposes....we are studying the book "Got Teens?" which is endorsed by the Hearts at Home organization.....I'm most excited to see what the Lord is going to do with us relationally and as moms....
