The Bible says the Lord gives us a measure of faith (....but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you..Romans 12:3 NIV). The Bible also states in the very Word of our Savior Jesus that with even the smallest measure of faith, mountains crumble (...."if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain 'Move from here to there' and it will move, nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20). So I believe even with the smallest measure of faith I can move mountains through Jesus Christ my Lord. God tells us to come to Him with all petitions, prayers, anxieties (Philippians 4:6) and He is the God of Grace who hears us! Not only hears us, but, loves us, in our imperfections, our sins, our disappointments......
My ministry partner & I went street witnessing after church today (my daughter came too) & God was there....Jesus took that ground for us, He showed us where to go and who to talk to and who to not talk to....yes that happens.....I came to the realization a long time ago that Jesus died for us right where we are at....right this moment, right now.....He didn't die for us all cleaned up and perfect (because we will never get there) He died for us right here, right now. He died for those who persecuted Him, beat Him, falsely accused Him, He died for those who put a crown of thorns on His head, spit on Him, whipped Him, crucified Him....He even said "Forgive them Father because they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34).
Street witnessing takes a measure of faith. My ministry partner is great with 'breaking the ice' where once it is broken I am good at coming in.....We didn't know what was going to happen today. We prayed that people's hearts & minds would be open to hear the Gospel. We met a woman just coming out of a domestic violence relationship....a man who felt everyone has left him.........a man who confessed his vices of drugs and alcohol.....a woman with mental disorder......And Jesus died for them right there, right where they are.....They needed Jesus right where they were at....right in their situations of loneliness, addiction, hopelessness, disease, anxiety, turmoil, anguish.......Jesus was there today with us as we witnessed to these people and told them just how much they were loved. How it's never too late---as long as you are alive it is never too late.
We went out with a mustard seed of faith today and we know that Jesus prepared the way for us.....with our tiny mustard seeds we took the territory that belonged to the world, that which satan owns, where spirits of bondage--addictions--prostitution and violence lie, streets where hopelessness, loneliness, disease, anguish and despair are rampant....where drug peddlers, pimps & traffickers are right there in front of you....
We didn't go out in our own courage---no, we most likely would not have gone----we went out in that mustard seed of faith and the Lord prepared the way...we prayed for mountains to move and they did, mountains to crumble and they fell....Doors to be open and they opened.....Jesus was there....people were hungry for Him.....they were looking for other answers besides all those other roads they had tried....they were looking for Jesus.
So the next time you have that opportunity....the next time you think you just can't do it....the next time you have fear or feel discouraged....grab that mustard seed.....that measure of faith that the Lord has given you.....and watch it get planted & grow, watch the Lord open doors, watch the Lord prepare the way, watch the Lord move and crumble mountains............
EXCELLENT!
